Greatly reduce the amount of paper used in your classroom with Google Drive Apps! Over the past several weeks I have supported the entire third grade team at Wade Thomas in getting their class up and going on Google Drive while the third grade team at Brookside has been working on expanding their expertise in Google Drive by including Slides and Docs into collaborative team tasks. Another teacher at Brookside is going paperless for Words Their Way sorts through the use of Google Drive; student are using the draw feature to click, drag, and sort their words into columns (click and drag is also a Smarter Balanced Assessment feature). Why use Google Drive? Google Drive can help support the students in collaborative learning, streamline class assignments, eliminate most problems of lost or unsaved work on the computer, and it can be accessed anywhere with an internet connection. One of the features I enjoyed the most about using Google Drive assignments with my class was the increase in teacher/student communication. I would often be at home looking over student work on Drive and the student would pop up as working; I could take that opportunity to give instant feedback and advice to the student right there through comments. If you are interested in a tutorial or support in getting your class up and running with Google Drive, feel free to contact me! We can get the conversation started. |
